Top Softball Teams Could Meet

Santa Ana Mater Dei and Santa Ana Foothill, ranked Nos. 1 and 2 in The Times’ top 25, are one victory from meeting in the final of the Foothill tournament, which resumes Saturday.
In the semifinals at 9 a.m. Saturday, Mater Dei will play No. 13 Newhall Hart and Foothill will play No. 10 Garden Grove Pacifica. The championship game begins at 3:45 p.m.
Mater Dei and Foothill each beat ranked teams in pool play last Saturday. Mater Dei defeated No. 8 Whittier California and No. 11 Loara, and Foothill beat No. 25 Anaheim Esperanza.
