Restrictions Lifted as Virus Cases Abate

Reports of new infections by an unidentified, potentially fatal virus declined, prompting the Greek government to lift restrictions meant to stop the virus’ spread. Three people have died.
Health Minister Alexandros Papadopoulos said only two new cases involving symptoms of heart inflammation were reported Friday, compared with five on Thursday and seven Wednesday. Forty-six people are believed to have been infected since officials began keeping count last week.
Papadopoulos said that although tests have not confirmed the identity of the virus, it is not new.
