Chalk This One Up to His Betting Style

The L.A. Times proudly boasts that handicapper Bob Mieszerski led all public handicappers during Santa Anita’s meet with 233 winners. But what you forgot to mention is that if you bet on all of Bob’s winners, you would have lost money. Even in Bob’s Insider Trading section, he finished with a flat loss over the season.
Now, I know that Bob does not have the luxury of making his daily selections at post time because of your newspaper deadlines. But the bottom line in horse racing is not to pick the most winners, but show a flat profit. Many of Bob’s selections are the favorites and everybody knows that you can not make money betting on favorites.
