JERUSALEM — Israeli forces killed a disabled member of the Hamas militant group Wednesday when they attacked the house in which he was staying with rockets and flattened it with a bulldozer in the northern West Bank village of Tubas, witnesses said.
The army said Nasser Jerar, 44, who lost both legs and an arm while preparing a bomb a year ago, was planning new suicide bombings, including a “mega-attack” on a multistory building in Israel.
“About an hour ago we received his body,” Jerar’s brother, Walid, said Wednesday night in an interview from his home in Burkin, west of the West Bank city of Jenin. “It was a direct hit by a rocket. Only his head and a small part of his body were recovered.” Hamas vowed to avenge his death.
A neighbor sent by the army to urge Jerar to surrender was shot dead. It was unclear by whom.
