Yum Brands Posts 2% Rise in Sales

Yum Brands Inc., the second-largest operator of fast-food chains, reported higher sales in stores open at least a year and raised its third-quarter earnings forecast, boosted by strong performance internationally and at its Taco Bell outlets.
Louisville, Ky.-based Yum, which also operates the KFC and Pizza Hut chains, said same-store sales rose 2%. Domestic same-store sales at Taco Bell rose 10%, those at Pizza Hut were flat, and those at KFC were 3% lower in the period, Yum said. Shares of Yum closed up $1.32, or 4.5%, at $30.50 a share on the NYSE.
