General Dynamics Buys Private Firm

General Dynamics Corp., the fifth-largest defense contractor, bought closely held Command System Inc. to add software and hardware for military operations, security and emergencies.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Command System makes command and control systems and works with the U.S. Army Future Combat Systems program and Britain’s Bowman and digitization programs.
The company has sold more than 300,000 licenses in eight countries, General Dynamics said.
Shares of Falls Church, Va.-based General Dynamics rose $1.27 to $76.20 on the NYSE.
