Re “91 Toll Lanes Sale to Orange County Wins Approval,” Nov. 26: The Orange County Transportation Authority will spend over $207 million to acquire the toll lanes, then spend $1.6 billion in improvements after motorists are still charged tolls to pay off the $207 million for the acquisition. Here’s a simple solution for our spend, spend, spend transportation authority: Buy the toll lanes for $207 million; take down the poles separating the toll lanes from the other lanes and -- presto chango -- a 12-lane freeway giving harried motorists instant relief.
