A missing mountain biker from London was rescued after spending a frigid night in the mountains above Lake Tahoe’s west shore, authorities said.
Peter Street, 56, was spotted Saturday morning near Bear Lake about five miles above Tahoma by a Placer County sheriff’s helicopter crew, said Sheriff Edward N. Bonner.
Street was found to be in good condition, and complained only of being cold and hungry. He was airlifted to Truckee Airport, then reunited with family members.
Street, who was visiting Tahoe for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, had ridden Friday up into the Miller Lake and Barker Pass areas when he became lost and overcome by darkness, deputies said.
