Tax Dollars Used to Fix Governor’s Mansion

Despite a budget crunch, the governor’s mansion in Carson City has undergone more than $590,000 in repairs this year.

The work comes four years after completion of a $5.2-million renovation project at the 93-year-old house. Unlike that project, this year’s work was funded by tax dollars. “You just have to spend money to maintain a place like that,” state Budget Director Perry Comeaux told the Reno Gazette-Journal. “Ask anyone who owns one of those Victorian mansions downtown. They are a money pit.”
