From Times Wire Reports
Up to 50 vehicles were involved on a pileup on an icy stretch of Interstate 64 in the Blue Ridge Mountains, injuring 23 people.
No one was killed, and none of the injuries was life-threatening, said Capt. Howard Gregory, state police division commander in Appomattox.
Fog, rain and ice apparently were factors in the pileup, Gregory said. Visibility on Afton Mountain was 50 to 60 feet, said Jim Jennings, a state Transportation Department spokesman.
