Big ups

Many thanks for giving us Baz Dreisinger’s survey of L.A.’s hip-hop radio (“A New York State of Mind,” Dec. 8).

Hip-hop fans should benefit from the commentary on our local musical culture. I was terribly impressed that after having spent two months in town, this populist postdoctoral fellow has really figured out L.A.’s sound. Maybe it’s the vantage point from Miracle Mile.

At first blush, I thought an article consisting of a list of pop culture references couldn’t hold it together. However, the author’s New York-sized ego fills in the gaps nicely.
