The Fairmont New Orleans, a classic 700-room hotel 11/2 blocks from the touristy French Quarter, goes on sale in summer for rates starting at $109 per room per night. By comparison, room rates in cooler seasons can hover around $200; they vary widely by occupancy levels and date. The AAA three-diamond-rated hotel, which dates to 1893, has a rooftop swimming pool to help beat the summer heat, a health club, a bar and a restaurant.
