CAA Votes to Draft Transfer Proposal
The 45 high schools that comprise the Catholic Athletic Assn. voted overwhelmingly last week to have a committee develop a new transfer policy for membership consideration before the school year is completed.
Principals from a number of CAA schools have voiced support for having students who transfer without changing residences be ineligible for varsity sports for one season. The committee was directed Thursday to come up with a proposal by early May, but it’s unlikely a policy could be put in place in time for the 2002-2003 school year.
In similar development involving transfer rules, the City Section Rules Committee will decide next week whether to recommend to the Interscholastic Athletic Committee adoption of a proposal to make athletes who transfer without moving ineligible for varsity competition for one year.
