In an effort to lay the groundwork for an NFL push, representatives from the L.A. Coliseum will have informal meetings today in Chicago with architects and financial experts involved with the renovation of Soldier Field.
“We’re serious about returning football to Los Angeles,” said City Councilman Mark Ridley-Thomas, chair of the Coliseum Commission’s NFL task force. “Our best example currently is Soldier Field. They’ve shown considerable insight in protecting and utilizing their assets.”
That said, several NFL executives and team owners have said they have no interest in returning to the Coliseum.
Ridley-Thomas said he is unfazed by that.
“I have every reason to believe that this will emerge as the most compelling proposition,” he said.
