Separated Twins Still in Serious Condition

Formerly conjoined twins from Guatemala remained in serious but stable condition at UCLA’s Mattel Children’s Hospital on Tuesday, six weeks after the operation to separate them.
A detailed report on the ongoing treatment of Maria Teresa Quiej Alvarez and her sister, Maria de Jesus, will be released during a news conference at the hospital today.
The year-old twins were separated in an operation Aug. 6 that attracted worldwide attention.
