Rhyme and Reason

Sorry to put a damper on Leah Ollman’s cute opening: “Tom Cruise as Jean-Baptiste Greuze? Well, the names do rhyme.” But they don’t (“An Acquired Taste,” Sept. 15). The French pronunciation of “eu” is not the same as the English of “u,” or in this case of “ui.” The closest pronunciation we have in English is the sound of “ur” as in Ur of the Chaldeans.
