Art Museum Director Leaving for Toledo Job

Don Bacigalupi, director of the San Diego Museum of Art, has resigned to accept a similar position at the Toledo Museum of Art in Ohio.
Bacigalupi, 43, took over the San Diego museum four years ago, when the institution was struggling to strengthen its permanent collection, improve relations with other museums and recover from questioned spending practices during the 19-year tenure of his predecessor.
In San Diego, Bacigalupi has overseen several exhibitions, including “Power and Desire: South Asian Paintings from the San Diego Museum of Art,” which opened in May 2000 and recently completed a world tour.
