$2 Million Pledged to Hospital ER Expansion

This Christmas, Claudia Cummings received a $2-million gift that she hopes she will never have to personally use.
Sacramento developer Bill Cummings pledged the $2 million toward an emergency room expansion project at Mercy Hospital of Folsom.
It is the lead donation in an $18-million fundraising campaign to upgrade and enlarge the department to serve more patients in the growing community east of Sacramento.
The couple previously donated the land on which the hospital sits, along with land for a park named for them.
