On a day when Baghdad was rocked again by several major explosions, fighting continued and allied troops deployed in areas far to the north, south and east of the Iraqi capital city. The first significant shipments of aid arrived for the civilian population in the Basra area. And as President Bush and British Prime Minister Blair met to discuss strategy -- and to insist that their nations would stay the course -- more troops and materiel were being moved in before a widely anticipated escalation of combat.
