Student Exchange
I was disappointed to read that a school had canceled an exchange with its partner school in Germany because it did not want German students to bring an “anti-American feeling” (March 24). I run a German American exchange at my school. We are hosts to 21 teenagers and their instructors. This program fosters positive experiences, friendships and awareness of our common interests.
The German students at my school will return to Germany full of love for America and its people, as everyone has shown only kindness to them. The German people still have a lot of goodwill toward us, and we need to make sure that political disagreements do not ruin this. We must promote student exchanges, not cancel them.
