From Times Staff Reports
The voter recall drive against longtime Councilman Paul Richards cleared a major hurdle Monday when the county registrar-recorder’s office announced that residents have gathered enough signatures to put the measure on the ballot.
Proponents accuse Richards, an elected official for more than 15 years, of corruption, charges that the councilman denies.
The petitions now go to City Clerk Andrea Hooper for certification. After that, the City Council would set an election date.
