Ventura Council Race Tops Ballot
Elections will be held today for three seats on the Ventura City Council. Seven candidates are vying to replace an incumbent and two retiring council members on the seven-member board.
The ballot also includes representatives of boards in the Ventura Unified and Las Virgenes school districts and the Ventura River County Water District.
Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
Election officials are predicting a turnout of about 25%, based on a low-key council race and voter fatigue after last month’s gubernatorial recall election. About 66% of registered voters cast ballots in the recall.
