Difficult Commute

Since the Metropolitan Transportation Authority strike began, my commute from Newhall to Sherman Oaks has increased from roughly 40 minutes to about an hour each morning. I wonder if Caltrans has considered the following: For the duration of the strike, open all carpool lanes to all traffic and turn off the electronic signs. The signs accomplish nothing other than slowing traffic in an effort to inform drivers of something most have already heard on the radio.
