Re “Campus Crowding Can Make PE a Challenge,” Nov. 19: According to the state Department of Education only 16% of L.A. Unified seventh-graders meet minimal fitness requirements. Your story is accompanied by a photo of Virgil Middle School students taking a warm-up lap. There are approximately 65 students, of which about 10 are actually running, to judge by their postures. The rest are walking. Do the math, Angelenos. Ten out of 65. A picture is worth a thousand words.
