TELLURIDE, Colo. — A couple were rescued from a 13,114-foot peak by helicopter Thursday, two days after their sport utility vehicle was stranded in a snowstorm.
Rescuers had been unable to ascend the road on Imogene Pass to reach Jane and Daryl Seaton, both 43, of Clearwater, Fla. After the rescue, Daryl Seaton was treated at a hospital for frostbite, and Jane Seaton was treated for exhaustion.
Daryl Seaton was able to call for help on his cell phone. Although the battery had died, he managed to rig up a new one using a camera battery and a Band-Aid, a sheriff’s spokeswoman said.
