Because a final decision has not been made about whether the Oct. 7 election will occur, the secretary of state and county elections officials are encouraging voters to continue sending in their completed absentee ballots. If the election does occur Oct. 7, the ballots would be tallied on election night. But it is not yet clear what would be done with the ballots if the recall election were moved to March.
