Couple Say Their Son Is Now Free of Cancer

Parents charged with kidnapping their 12-year-old son to prevent him from receiving court-ordered chemotherapy said new tests show he is free of cancer.
Barbara and Daren Jensen of Sandy provided no further details about their son, Parker. His oncologist, J. Martin Johnston, said that the family had forbidden him from commenting, but that the state had been notified.
The couple do not want the boy, who had a mouth tumor removed that tested positive for Ewing’s sarcoma, to be treated because they think it will sterilize him and stunt his growth.
Their refusal led a Utah judge to order the treatment -- and spurred them to flee. The couple, who were charged with kidnapping, surrendered earlier this month and were later released. The charges are still pending.
