The former coach of the Fillmore High School girls’ soccer team has been sentenced to 270 days in jail for possessing and selling methamphetamine, a prosecutor said Thursday.
Jose Ismael Nolasco, 27, pleaded guilty to three drug charges last month and was sentenced Wednesday by Ventura County Superior Court Judge Bruce A. Clark. He was also placed on three years’ probation and ordered to pay about $1,500 in fines and fees.
Prosecutor Ryan White said that with the plea, Nolasco admitted selling meth within 1,000 feet of the school but that he did not sell to students. Nolasco was hired as a soccer coach in September and was fired after the charges were made public.
Two others were also convicted of selling drugs with Nolasco.
Faustino Rodriguez, 20, was sentenced in March to spend 240 days in jail for conspiring to sell meth. Gerardo Vargas, 22, has pleaded guilty to drug sales and conspiracy and will be sentenced May 5.
