Microsoft to Settle Patent Suit With AT

Microsoft Corp. agreed to settle a patent infringement lawsuit filed by AT&T; Corp. over technology to speed and improve Internet transmissions of voices.
Financial terms were not disclosed. The case was in the middle of trial in federal court in New York.
The dispute centered on a way to send voices digitally without making them sound like machines. AT&T; said Microsoft used the invention in its NetMeeting and TrueSpeech products without permission.
