A proposal to add more acreage to Sonoma Coast State Beach could nearly double the size of the popular state park.
The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors is considering a $20.6-million deal to buy nearly 3,400 acres from the Mendocino Redwoods Co.
The plan to acquire the historic timberlands would bring the park’s size to more than 8,000 acres, pushing its eastern edge to ridge tops overlooking the Russian River and Tomales Point.
