The South Coast boys’ water polo tournament begins today at Newport Harbor, Corona del Mar, Tustin and Mission Viejo Capistrano Valley highs.
Most of the top teams in Southern Section Division I are entered, including Long Beach Wilson, Santa Ana Foothill and Lake Forest El Toro. The championship game is set for 4 p.m. Saturday at Newport Harbor. Unlike in previous years, predicting the finalists won’t be easy.
“I don’t think there’s any super-dominant team this year,” Newport Harbor Coach Jason Lynch said. Last year, Anaheim Servite upset then top-seeded Foothill, 16-9, in the title game.
