Motorist on Freeway Shoulder Struck, Killed

A man was struck and killed on the San Diego Freeway on Sunday, authorities said.
Chris Barta, 32, of Irvine was out of his car on the shoulder of the southbound lanes near Main Street when he was hit by a pickup, according to the California Highway Patrol. Barta died at the scene.
Authorities said Barta had pulled over after an accident.
