Prince has signed a new contract with Universal Music and will release a new album, “3121,” next year, Billboard magazine reports.
The Minneapolis artist is holding a press conference Tuesday in Los Angeles to announce details of the deal, including the anticipated release date.
His last album, “Musicology,” was released last year through a onetime deal with Columbia Records, but in recent years he has avoided working with major labels in favor of issuing new music through his NPG Music Club site.
His 2004 “Musicology” tour was among the year’s most popular, drawing some 1.5 million fans and grossing $90.2 million, according to Billboard.
A video for the first single from the album, “Te Amo Corazon,” will be available starting Tuesday at www.npgmusicclub.com. The video was directed by actress Salma Hayek.
