Charges Filed in Slaying Linked to Mugging

A 19-year-old man was charged with killing an aspiring actress when she challenged a group of alleged muggers on a Manhattan street.
Rudy Fleming was arraigned on charges of murder, robbery, attempted robbery and weapons possession, said Assistant Dist. Atty. Robert Hettleman. If convicted, Fleming could face up to life in prison or the death penalty, Hettleman said.
Nicole duFresne was killed outside a nightspot when she challenged a group of men who had allegedly demanded money from her, her fiance and another couple, police said.
