Freshman Marvin Williams had a season-high 20 points and Rashad McCants scored 18 Thursday night to help No. 2 North Carolina defeat North Carolina State, 95-71, at Chapel Hill, N.C. The Tar Heels, 18-2 overall and 7-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference, have won 18 of their past 19 games. Julius Hodge had 18 points for the Wolfpack (13-8, 3-5).
OTHER GAMES
Paul Millsap scored 28 points to power Louisiana Tech (11-8, 6-4 Western Athletic Conference) past Fresno State, 79-72, at Fresno. The Bulldogs are 12-7, 6-4.... Nick Fazekas scored 23 points as Nevada (15-5, 8-2 WAC) rolled to a 73-59 victory over Southern Methodist (9-9, 4-6) at Reno.
