Regarding “Plenty of Vacancies at the Bat Motel” [Jan. 11]: Plugging up the entrances and stopping exploration of old mines is a step in the right direction, but why stop there? There are far more injuries and deaths on California mountains and streams. Let’s put Mt. Whitney and the Kern River off limits.
