Box-office ploys for Fourth of July

More moviegoers may be watching “Cinderella Man” free this weekend after the Cinemark theater chain said Friday it will match AMC Entertainment’s money-back guarantee in certain cities.
Cinemark is limiting its guarantee to the long holiday weekend and 25 markets where it doesn’t compete against AMC, said Terrell Falk, the company’s vice president of marketing and communications.
Meanwhile, in another unusual box-office ploy -- especially given that this film, unlike “Cinderella Man,” has been raking in dough -- the producers of “Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith” are offering a deal at most theaters: Buy three tickets and get a fourth one free. It’s good only this weekend.
