Smuggling Suspect Charged in Five Deaths

Fidel Gonzalez, 19, of North Hollywood, a suspected immigrant smuggler, was arraigned Wednesday in his hospital bed on five counts of murder for a crash last week that left five people dead. Authorities said Gonzalez was the driver of the van that collided head-on with a pickup east of San Diego.
