Armed Man Arrested at Prime Minister’s Home

Australian police arrested a man armed with a knife after he attempted to toss a burning package over the fence of Prime Minister John Howard’s Sydney residence.
Howard was on vacation and was not in the home, which is close to the shore of Sydney Harbor.
The attacker suffered burns, but no one else was injured.
The 27-year-old man was taken to a nearby hospital, where he remained under guard and was receiving psychiatric treatment, police said. There was no word on whether he had been charged.
