SkyWest May Acquire Delta Commuter Unit

SkyWest Inc., the largest independent commuter carrier, said it might buy one of Delta Air Lines Inc.’s two commuter units.
St. George, Utah-based SkyWest has talked with Delta about purchasing the Atlanta carrier’s Comair or Atlantic Southeast Airlines units, Skywest Chief Financial Officer Michael Kraupp said. Delta spokesman John Kennedy declined to comment except to say that Chief Executive Gerald Grinstein has said the airline would consider selling assets.
Delta’s shares rose 27 cents to $5.27 on the NYSE. SkyWest’s shares rose 8 cents to $17.89 on Nasdaq.
