17 Terror Suspects Held; Police Say Attack Foiled

Australian authorities arrested 17 terrorism suspects, including a prominent radical Muslim cleric, and said they had foiled a major terrorist attack. Police declined to give details.
Australian Federal Police said the men were arrested in Sydney and Melbourne in raids that netted weapons and apparent bomb-making materials. A prosecutor said cleric Abdul Nacer Benbrika, also known as Abu Bakr, was the ringleader.
