A Riverside firefighter died after helping extinguish a house fire in the 5200 block of La Sierra Avenue, officials said Monday.
Ed Teran, 43, a 17-year veteran of the Riverside Fire Department, was among 18 firefighters who helped douse the house fire late Saturday afternoon. He collapsed about 90 minutes after the fire was controlled and was declared dead about an hour later at Kaiser Hospital in Riverside, a fire spokeswoman said. The cause of death was not immediately determined.
