Yahoo to tap Gawker content
Yahoo Inc. announced Tuesday that beginning today, it would make available stories from Gawker Media’s stable of popular websites, including Defamer, which trains its prying eyes on Hollywood, and Gawker, the daily source of gossip from Gotham.
The New York-based company’s weblogs also include Wonkette, an irreverent take on the latest political scandals; Gizmodo, a technology weblog; and Lifehacker, which reviews product downloads and websites.
Yahoo said the arrangement would eventually expand to include other Gawker Media outlets.
It’s the latest of Yahoo’s initiatives to provide a platform for nontraditional media voices. Earlier this year, the company began providing content from the Huffington Post, the blog and news site operated by Arianna Huffington.
