Cause of Death Reported for Central Park Coyote

A coyote that was caught loping around New York City’s Central Park last month died of heartworms, exposure to rat poison, and the stress of his capture and handling, state pathologists reported.
The coyote led police on a wild chase before being shot with a tranquilizer dart March 22. It died March 30 as it was being tagged for release.
