More Ellen: “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” has been renewed to continue its daytime chatting through the 2009-10 season by NBC-owned stations in 10 major cities, including L.A. and San Diego.
College kudos: mtvU, MTV’s college network, will receive the Governors Award from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences at the Emmy Awards this month in recognition of its campaign to raise awareness of the genocide in the Darfur region of Sudan.
Host set: Jack Black will host the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards, airing from New York on Aug. 31.
Guilty pleasures: Patrick Swayze movies, Paris Hilton, tabloid newspapers, boy bands, Internet porn and televised police chases are among the topics covered in “101 Guiltiest Guilty Pleasures,” a five-part series that premieres Aug. 28 on the E! channel.
