Miramax is sued over ‘English Patient’ profit

The producer of “The English Patient” is alleging that Walt Disney Co.-owned Miramax Corp. owes him at least $20 million in a profit dispute involving the 1996 Oscar-winning film.
In a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Saul Zaentz accuses Miramax of using “fraudulent and unfair accounting and business practices” to withhold revenue from the film, which his company agreed to co-finance for a share of the profit.
Jonathan Friedland, a spokesman for Burbank-based Disney, said he couldn’t comment because the company had not reviewed the complaint.
