Mentor Abandons Effort to Take Over Medicis

Mentor Corp. said it dropped its $2.2-billion bid for Medicis Pharmaceutical Corp. of Scottsdale, Ariz.
Mentor, based in Santa Barbara, also said it was withdrawing its forecast for fiscal 2006 ending March 31 as it deals with delays in winning Food and Drug Administration approval of its silicone breast implants.
