AT&T; Says It Paid CEO $17.2 Million Last Year

AT&T; Inc. Chief Executive Edward Whitacre received $17.2 million in total compensation last year, a 9.5% raise, according to a regulatory filing.
San Antonio-based AT&T;, California’s dominant local phone company, paid Whitacre, 64, $2.12 million in salary, a $7.13 million bonus, other annual pay of $2.67 million, long-term incentives of $4.79 million, additional compensation of $249,588 and stock options worth $217,051. He got $15.7 million in total pay in 2004, including $1.52 million in options.
