Man behind the mogul

I grew up in a family with a Hollywood “notable,” who attained the highest level of success and achievement throughout his long and illustrious career [“For Silver Spoon Scions,” July 16]. I am awed by the recognition my father receives for his commitment to artistic excellence, service to the film community and longevity in a career that only a few have achieved. But most of all, I am overwhelmed by what an extraordinary individual he is, beyond his body of work. Perhaps this is the greatest legacy that a parent can pass on to their children, regardless of their status in society.

Dignity and self-respect, the pursuit of knowledge through education, service to others, and the pure love of what one does with his or her life are what I learned as the daughter of a Hollywood “notable.”
