DirecTV, EchoStar to Sell High-Speed Internet

DirecTV Group Inc. of El Segundo and EchoStar Communications Corp., the top two U.S. satellite television broadcasters, agreed to resell high-speed Internet service provided by closely held WildBlue Communications.
DirecTV and Englewood, Colo.-based EchoStar each will offer Denver-based WildBlue’s service for five years, the companies said. Terms were not disclosed.
DirecTV and EchoStar plan to sell the Internet service to their TV customers as well as to non-customers.
A spokeswoman for WildBlue said its target customers are in rural areas and small cities.
